Terms of Use
Last updated October 3, 2026
These are the terms for using Booked, an iPhone app made by BuyBye Inc., Ontario, Canada (“we”). By downloading or using the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app. Nothing here takes away rights the law gives you where you live, including under Ontario consumer protection law.
Who can use it
You must be at least 13, or older where the law says so. Keep your sign-in to yourself; what happens under your account is on you.
What Booked is
A reader for your sides, a way to record self-tapes, and a log of your auditions. The reader is generated by AI from the script you import. It is a rehearsal tool, not a person, and it can misread a line or mistime a cue. We may change the app over time.
Your scripts, takes and log
Import only scripts you are entitled to use. You keep whatever rights you already hold in what you import or create. You give us just the permission needed to build the reader (processing the text with the services named in our privacy policy) and to store your log. We never upload your self-tapes. Feedback you send us, we may use freely.
Our app
The app, its design, code, voices, demo scene, name and logo belong to us or our licensors. You get a personal licence to use it on your own devices, nothing more.
Your account
The app creates an anonymous account the first time it opens. A sign-in is needed only for the audition log, and attaches to that same account. A subscription belongs to the Apple ID that bought it and is linked to the account that was on the phone at the time; on a new phone, Restore Purchases in Settings reconnects it. You can delete your account from Settings at any time; that removes the account, the log, your referral code and any unclaimed free months for good. It does not cancel a subscription.
What is free and what is paid
Downloading the app, the audition log, the demo scene and importing up to three scripts to read on screen are free. Rehearsing and recording with a reader for your own scripts need a subscription. If a subscription ends, the scripts already on your phone stay, the free imports stay, and the reader needs a subscription again.
Subscriptions
Subscriptions are billed through Apple, renew until cancelled in your Apple ID settings, and must be cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends to avoid the next charge. A free trial becomes a paid subscription unless cancelled first. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel a subscription; only cancelling in your Apple ID settings does. Refunds are Apple’s decision, and a refunded period loses the reader when the refund is issued. Price changes follow Apple’s notice and consent rules.
Fair use
Building a reader costs us real money per script, so a subscription covers a generous but not unlimited amount of reader building per billing period. If an account goes far beyond what an actor preparing auditions would use, building pauses until the next renewal; the app tells you as you get close. Do not use the app to break the law or infringe anyone’s rights. Do not automate it, resell it, share an account, or work around its limits.
Offers and codes
A code typed in the app maps to an offer on the App Store, such as a discount on your first months. Apple decides whether you qualify when you redeem it, and shows the actual price in your currency before you buy. One introductory offer per account; codes do not stack with each other or with a trial. Codes have no cash value, cannot be sold, and we may withdraw or change them.
Referral months
Subscribers get a referral code to share. A friend who uses it gets the current referral discount. Once that friend pays for their first month, you earn one free month. The rules:
- One free month per friend, ever, and up to twelve in any twelve-month period.
- Your own subscriptions, and codes used on your own account, earn nothing.
- If Apple refunds that first payment within 14 days, the month is cancelled. A month already applied is not taken back.
- Each earned month must be claimed in the app, from the Bring a friend screen, while your subscription is active. Earned months wait for you; they are lost only if you delete your account.
- A claimed month applies to a future renewal, the next one Apple has not yet billed. It does not refund the month you are in. Apple applies one free month per renewal, so months are claimed one at a time, and you can claim the next one as soon as the current one has started, so free months can run back to back.
- Apple applies the free month; where Apple declines, we cannot apply it another way.
We may change or end the referral programme, and we may cancel months earned through fake accounts, self-referral or other abuse.
Free scripts by hand
Now and then we add a free script to an account, for example when you tell us what got in the way before deleting the app. A grant covers that script and its reader, nothing more, and is ours to give or not.
Claims
If someone makes a claim against us because of a script you imported or a breach of these terms, you cover the costs.
No guarantees
The app is provided as is, without warranties. We do not promise it will be error-free or always available, and we are not responsible for an audition that goes badly. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, and our total liability is what you paid us in the past twelve months.
Apple
Apple’s standard App Store licence applies, and these terms are additional to it. They are between you and us, not Apple. Apple has no duty to maintain or support the app, is not responsible for warranty, product or intellectual property claims about it, and may enforce these terms as a third-party beneficiary.
Ending
You may stop any time. We may close an account that breaks these terms; the audition log and any unclaimed free months go with it, and scripts and takes stay on your phone. Closing an account does not cancel an Apple subscription; cancel it in your Apple ID settings.
Changes
We may update these terms. For changes that matter, the app will tell you before they take effect. The date at the top is the current version.
Law
Ontario law governs, and disputes go to the courts of Ontario. If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement.
